What renews and what does not

This is the part of any dating site's small print that catches people out, so here it is plainly. Each plan lasting between one week and six months renews automatically at the same price when it ends, until you cancel. The 12-month plans, on both VIP and VIP Plus, do not renew: when the year is up, the membership simply ends and you will not be charged again unless you choose a new plan.

If you buy a renewing plan and only want one period, you can manage renewal in your account settings.

How to choose a plan length

Think about how long you expect to look, not which number looks smallest.

One week suits you if you would like to try the site over a single round of fixtures before committing. It is the shortest way in, and it renews unless you cancel.

One month covers four or five weekends of football, enough time to trade messages with a few people and arrange a first date or two.

Three months takes you from the opening weekend in August to the busy run of fixtures in the autumn, or from the new year to the end of the season. It suits people who like to take their time getting to know someone.

Six months covers most of a season. If you want to meet someone and see how they cope with a winter of midweek kick-offs, this length gives you room.

Twelve months covers a full season plus the summer, when there are tournaments in some years and pre-season friendlies in all of them. It is the only length that ends by itself without renewing.

VIP and VIP Plus

VIP adds unrestricted messaging, so you can send as many messages as you like; advanced search filters, including city and distance; access to members' chat rooms; private group chats, handy for arranging a trip to a match with friends; rewind, to revisit profiles you passed on; and the chance to see everyone who likes you.

VIP Plus includes everything in VIP, plus exclusive matches, priority placement for your messages and likes so they are seen first, and a place at the top of the match stack in other people's daily suggestions.

VIP Plus costs a little more at every length. If you are not sure which suits you, start with a short VIP plan and see how you get on before choosing anything longer.

Choosing between the two memberships

If you are unsure, start small. A single week of either membership costs only a pound apart, £14.99 against £15.99, so it is an easy way to compare the two before committing to anything longer, whenever in the season you start.

Paying from outside the UK

Prices on this page are in pounds sterling. If you pay with a card issued outside the UK, or in another currency, your bank may add its own conversion or overseas fees, which we do not control. Check the amount and currency on the checkout screen before you confirm.

Cancelling

You can manage renewal on any renewing plan in your account settings. If you are unsure whether your plan renews, check the table above: anything shorter than 12 months does.

Before you pay: a short checklist

Whichever plan you pick, a minute of checking avoids surprises later.

  1. Confirm the length you have chosen.
  2. Confirm the amount and currency on the checkout screen.
  3. Check whether it renews. Every length except twelve months does.
  4. Note the date. If you are buying a renewing plan, put a reminder in your phone a few days before the next payment, so you can decide whether to carry on.
  5. Keep the confirmation. A screenshot or the email receipt is useful if you ever need to query a charge.

Plan lengths and the football year

It can help to think about plans in terms of the fixture list. A single week covers one round of league games, which is enough to see whether the site suits you. A month takes in a typical run of four or five fixtures plus a midweek round. Three months matches the stretch from late summer to the first frosts, or from the new year to the run-in. Six months covers most of a season. Twelve months covers everything, including the summer break, and then stops.

Safety and paying

We will never ask you to pay a member, and no genuine match will ask you to pay for anything on their behalf. If a profile asks for money, tickets, gift cards or bank details, stop the conversation and report it. Our safety page explains the common scams, including ticket offers for sold-out games.

If a payment looks wrong

If a charge looks unfamiliar, compare it with your confirmation email first, because payment descriptions on bank statements do not always match a site's name exactly. If it still looks wrong, contact customer support before raising it with your bank.

Comparing prices with other sites

General dating apps and football-themed sites charge in different ways, and many only show prices inside the app after you have signed up. Our view is simple: you should know the cost before you register, so every figure sits here in the open. Our comparisons look at how other sites in the UK show their prices, where that information is public.

Is it worth paying for a niche site?

That depends on how much football matters to you. If the game is one interest among many, a general app may be enough. If your weekends are built around fixtures and you want a partner who understands that from the first message, a site where everyone starts from football can save a lot of awkward conversations. Our article on football dating apps in the UK weighs up that choice.

Why we publish every price

Some dating services only reveal costs after you have registered, which makes comparison hard. We list all ten plans, both memberships at five lengths each, on this open page. That way you can work out what suits your budget and your season before giving us any details at all. If anything here is unclear, please ask before you pay rather than after.

Budgeting around the football year

Football is not a cheap hobby, and dating costs add up too. Some fans prefer a short plan in the summer, when dates are easier to arrange, and a longer one once the season settles. Others pick a twelve-month plan precisely because it ends on its own and does not need cancelling.

Questions before buying

If you are unsure which plan suits you, ask customer support before paying.
