Badges or a whole profile

Bumble is a general dating app that also lets people look for friends. You can show what you are into with a handful of Interest badges, and football can be one of them. Football Dating UK takes the opposite view: the game is the starting point, so your whole profile can talk about it.

Bumble or a football site? Details about Bumble come from its own support pages, checked on 16 October 2026. We note where Bumble may be the better fit.

How football shows up on Bumble

A Bumble profile can display five badges at most, drawn from groups that include Sports. For a supporter, that is a handy way to signal the game at first glance. Whether there is a specific football badge in your area is something to check in the app, because the options can change.

Five badges is a sensible limit; it stops profiles turning into a list of every hobby going. It also means football competes with everything else you enjoy. If you love the game but also cook, travel, run and read, you have to choose. Most supporters on Bumble end up spending one badge on sport and using their bio and photos to say which club, and how much.

BFF in the UK

Bumble has a friendship side called BFF, and it works differently depending on where you live. According to Bumble's support pages, updated on 9 September 2026, people in the US, Canada and Mexico now use a separate BFF app, and BFF mode has been removed from the main Bumble app there. Everywhere else, including the UK, BFF mode is still inside the Bumble app, and Bumble's support pages say the separate BFF app is not yet available outside those three countries. Its support pages also list the Bumble For Friends app as available in the UK.

To switch to BFF mode in the UK, Bumble's instructions say you open your profile settings, choose "Type of connection" and select BFF. They also note that switching from Date mode to BFF mode removes your existing matches.

For a football fan, that matters if you would like to meet people to go to games with as well as people to date. Bumble keeps both in one app, as long as you remember which mode you are in.

How football shows up here

On Football Dating UK, there is no need to fit the game into a badge. Your profile has space to say:

It is a dating site rather than a friendship app. If you want matchday mates as well as dates, say so in your profile, but the people here are mainly looking for relationships.

What Bumble does well

Bumble does several things well.

Clear profiles. The badge system keeps profiles tidy and easy to read.

Dating and friendship together. In the UK, BFF mode sits inside the same app, useful for anyone new to a town who wants mates and dates alike.

Detailed support pages. Its help centre is clear and regularly updated, which is how we were able to confirm the badge limit and the BFF arrangements.

Variety. As a mainstream app, it puts you in front of people with all sorts of interests, which some fans see as a plus.

If football is one interest among many, Bumble's badges may be all you need.

Where a football-first site helps

Room to explain. A badge says you like sport. A profile here can say you have had a season ticket since you were eight and that you have never missed a Boxing Day fixture.

A shared starting point. Everyone on the site has chosen a football dating site, so the game is a natural first topic.

Fewer surprises. Saying up front that you are busy most Saturdays from August to May avoids a lot of difficult conversations.

Open pricing. Anyone can read our sterling price list without registering. VIP runs from £14.99 for seven days through £24.95 (one month), £59.95 (three), £74.70 (six) and £119.88 (twelve). VIP Plus runs £15.99, £34.24, £77.01, £128.31 and £208.05 across the same lengths. Annual plans stop at the end of the year.

Prices

Renewal rules and every amount sit on our pricing page. Bumble's premium options are bought in the app, where the figures are displayed; confirm them there before paying.

Profile tips for football fans on Bumble

Moving between modes

Because switching from Date to BFF clears your existing matches, decide what you want before you flip. If a promising conversation is under way, finish it, or swap numbers once you trust the person, before changing modes.

Friendship first, dating later

Some football fans like the idea of meeting someone through a shared love of the game and seeing whether anything develops. That can work on either service. On Bumble, BFF mode is set up for friendship in its own right. On Football Dating UK, you can say on your profile that you would like to start with going to a match together. Just be honest about what you hope for, so nobody is confused.

Which should you choose?

Choose Bumble if you like a neat profile layout, want friendships and dates under one roof and see football as one of several things to show off.

A note on the separate friends app. Bumble's pages describe the standalone BFF app as US, Canada and Mexico only, while a Bumble For Friends listing is shown as available in the UK. Check the store on your phone for the current position before deciding which to download.

Choose Football Dating UK if the game sits at the heart of your week, you want to explain it properly, and you would like a partner who understands the fixture list from the start.

Use both if you enjoy the mix on a mainstream app but also want somewhere the game comes first.

Safety

On either service, get to know someone by message before meeting, choose a busy venue, share your plans with a mate and keep your bank details to yourself. A stranger offering cheap tickets for a sold-out game in your inbox is almost always a scam. Our safety page has more.
