An established relationship site and a football one
Match is a familiar name in online dating, and its UK site presents itself as a place to meet singles ready for a serious relationship. Football Dating UK is also aimed at relationships, but it starts from a shared love of the game. Which suits a UK supporter better comes down to how much of your week football fills. The facts about Match come from its UK website and help pages, checked on 16 October 2026.

How Match works
Match's UK homepage describes profiles as "very detailed" and says you can find people "using the criteria search or just browse." Its help pages explain that you click Search to find singles who match your chosen criteria, which you can change at any time, and that Discover shows a list of profiles picked out for you.
Match also offers a couple of privacy features. Incognito mode lets you view profiles without the other person knowing you have visited, and Zen mode means only people who match your criteria can contact you.
Its help page on subscriptions says a subscription lets you send unlimited messages, see who has liked and viewed your profile, read messages you receive, revisit previous profiles and use the site without adverts. Upgrading also unlocks advanced search filters and up to three SuperLikes a week. Match says you can see its packages by signing in and clicking Subscribe.
Two other details are worth knowing. Match's homepage says that, if you consent and fit their categories, your profile can be made visible on its related services for the over-50s or single parents. And its refund page says first-time subscriptions and upgrades bought on the website have a 14-day cooling-off period with pro-rata refunds, while renewals are not refunded.
How football shows up on Match
Match gives no dedicated slot for a team, so supporters rely on the written sections, interests and pictures. That works if you write it well; it is also easy for a football detail to get lost among everything else a detailed profile asks for.
The search criteria are broad, so finding someone who loves football largely depends on what other people choose to write.
How football shows up here
On Football Dating UK, football is the starting point. Your profile has room for:
- your club, and any second side you have a soft spot for
- season ticket, away trips, the local or the settee
- any playing you still do
- how a normal autumn Saturday unfolds
You can still write about everything else in your life, but nobody here needs to be told why Saturday afternoons are busy.
What Match does well
Match has clear strengths.
Detail. Its profiles encourage you to say a lot about yourself, which suits people who want to know someone before messaging.
Search. Criteria search, filters and Discover give you several ways to find people.
Privacy options. Incognito and Zen modes give you more control over who sees and contacts you.
A clear cooling-off policy. Its help pages set out the 14-day cooling-off period for first subscriptions bought on its website.
Serious intent. If you want commitment and football is just one part of your life, Match is a sensible option.
Where a football-first site helps
A shared starting point. Everyone here has chosen a site built around football, so the first conversation is easy.
No need to explain your calendar. Fixture-heavy weekends are normal here, not something to apologise for.
Costs on show. You can read every price before registering. VIP: £14.99 weekly, £24.95 monthly, £59.95 quarterly, £74.70 half-yearly, £119.88 yearly. VIP Plus: £15.99, £34.24, £77.01, £128.31 and £208.05 for the same spans.
Annual plans that stop. A twelve-month plan here does not roll into a second year. The shorter plans continue at their original price until you cancel them.
Prices
Our pricing page sets all of this out. On Match, packages appear once you are signed in, so compare the current offer there and read the renewal terms before you pay.
Over-50s and single parents
Match's homepage notes that, with your consent and if you fit the categories, your profile can also be shown on its related services for people over 50 or for single parents. Some people welcome the extra visibility; others prefer to keep a profile in one place. Either way, it is worth knowing before you register, and you can decide whether to give that consent.
Football fans in those groups have their own considerations. A single parent who coaches a junior side on Saturday mornings, or an over-50s supporter who has held the same season ticket for thirty years, will want a partner who understands those commitments. Wherever you sign up, saying so plainly at the start saves time for everyone.
Detailed profiles and the football detail
A long profile is a gift if you use it well. Match asks plenty of questions, which gives you space to explain your football life fully, from who took you to your first game to how you feel about a Sunday 4.30 kick-off. The risk is burying the detail in the middle. Put your club in the first two lines, then return to it once more near the end, perhaps with a question for the reader. On our site the same advice holds, but you will not need to fight for attention: everyone reading will already be thinking about football.
Refunds and cooling off
Match's refund page describes a 14-day cooling-off period, with pro-rata refunds, for first subscriptions and upgrades bought on its website, and says renewals are not refunded. If you are trying any paid service for the first time, note the date you subscribed and set a reminder a few days before any renewal. On our site, plans from one week to six months continue until cancelled, so the same reminder habit is worth having here too.
Messaging on each service
Match says unlimited messaging comes with a subscription. Here, check the pricing page for the plans before you start.
Making football visible on Match
If you use Match, a few tips:
- Mention your club early in your profile text, rather than leaving it for the last line.
- Say how football fits your week, so readers know when you are available.
- Use one matchday photo among several others.
- Search widely, then read carefully. A detailed profile is only useful if you read it.

Which should you choose?
Choose Match if you like a search-led relationship site with long profiles and privacy modes, and football is only one of your interests.
Choose Football Dating UK if you want a partner who gets the fixture list without a briefing, and you prefer to know the price before you register.
Use both if you want Match's search tools and a place where the game comes first.
Safety
Sensible habits travel with you between sites. Get to know someone through messages, meet in a public venue, tell somebody your plans and never transfer money to an online contact. If a date falls on a matchday, check trains and buses before kick-off, not after. Our safety page explains more.
