Two football-first options
Footymatch and Football Dating UK both start from the same idea: football fans often get on best with other football fans. Where they differ is in what they are for. Footymatch describes itself as being for "finding love, friendship and matchday mates," and much of its design is about meeting fellow supporters around fixtures. Football Dating UK is a dating site, focused on relationships.
We checked Footymatch's live web app on 16 October 2026 and quote it directly where we can. It is a web app rather than a store download; its own pages invite you to add it to your home screen, with "no App Store needed."

How Footymatch works
Footymatch's pages say it matches people "on club, banter tolerance and the way you follow the game." When you sign up, it asks how you follow your club, and its options include armchair, home games only and home and away; as it puts it, "armchair loyal counts just as much." It also asks how much stick you can take from rival fans, and you can tick a box saying you are "open to matching with rival fans (banter welcome)."
Its Discover screen "shows fellow supporters of your club before anyone else," so if you want someone who shares your colours, that is built in.
Footymatch leans into the social side of matchday. Its pages describe being able to post the fixture you are heading to and see who else is going, with the line "Never travel to a game alone again." A check-in feature is available from three hours before kick-off to three hours after full time. There is also a Grounds Book where you log every ground you have been to, with a monthly recap of your progress towards the 92 Club. During England matches it offers a match-day boost to appear first in Discover.
On safety, its guidelines say rivalry is fine but cruelty is not, ban hate speech, harassment, threats and scams, and say reports are anonymous and reviewed. It is for people aged 18 and over, and you can verify yourself with a live selfie to earn a trust badge.
We could not find membership prices on its public pages.
How Football Dating UK works
Football Dating UK is a dating site first and foremost. Your profile carries your team, the way you watch and a picture of your Saturdays from August to May, and the aim is a conversation that leads to a date.
There is no fixture check-in or ground-hopping log. The site is built around getting to know one person well enough to meet them, rather than around finding company for a particular match. Alongside the dating tools, we publish guides for football couples and written city pages for Manchester, London and Liverpool.
Our price list is open to anyone, in sterling. Over a week, a month, a quarter, half a year and a full year, VIP costs £14.99, £24.95, £59.95, £74.70 and £119.88, and VIP Plus costs £15.99, £34.24, £77.01, £128.31 and £208.05. Everything up to six months repeats at the same price unless you cancel, and a year-long plan stops when the year is up.
What Footymatch does well
Footymatch has some genuinely good ideas.
Club-based matching. If you only want to date someone who shares your colours, its Discover screen puts your fellow supporters first.
Matchday company. Posting the game you are going to and finding someone to travel with is a smart feature, especially for someone new to an area.
Friendship included. It is open about being for friendship as much as dating, which takes some of the pressure off.
Rival preferences. Letting you choose whether to see rival fans, and how much banter you can take, is a thoughtful touch.
The Grounds Book. Anyone working towards the 92 will appreciate it.
If you want a football social life as well as a love life, Footymatch may suit you better than we do.
Where Football Dating UK differs
Dating is the point. Everyone here is looking for dates or a relationship. If that is what you want, it keeps things simple.
Any level of fandom. You do not need to go to games. Supporters, players, armchair fans and curious newcomers who simply like the idea of a football-loving partner are all welcome.
Written guides. We publish practical advice for football relationships, from dating a rival fan to mixed couples where one partner hates football.
Prices you can see first. Anyone can read the full price list without registering.
Same club or any club?
This is where the two part company most clearly. Footymatch is designed around your club first, although you can opt in to rival fans. Football Dating UK lets you say who you support and leaves it to you whether that matters in a partner. Some supporters only want someone who shares their colours. Others think dating a rival keeps life interesting, and some would be perfectly happy with someone who does not follow football at all. Think about which describes you.
Rival fans on each service
Footymatch asks you to opt in before rival supporters appear. Here, every profile is visible regardless of club, and it is up to each person to say on their profile whether a rival is welcome. The article on dating a rival fan has more on making that work.
Matchday company versus a first date
If what you mostly want is someone to go to the match with, and romance would be a bonus, Footymatch's fixture features are built for that. If you want to meet someone for a proper first date, perhaps somewhere quieter than a ground, a dating site may suit you better. Our matchday first-date guide sets out why many couples keep the stadium for a later date.
A web app, not a store download
Footymatch runs in the browser and invites you to add it to your home screen. That has advantages: nothing to install, and it works on most phones. It also means you will not find store reviews or a store listing to check before trying it, so read its own terms and privacy pages carefully. The same advice applies to us and to every service on our comparison pages: know who runs it, what you are paying and how to leave before you sign up.
Can you use both?
Yes. They are different enough that using both makes sense for some people: Footymatch for matchday mates and fellow supporters, a dating site for relationships. If you do, be consistent about what you want on each.
Safety on any football site
Football adds its own risks: crowds, alcohol, late trains and ticket scams. On any platform, swap messages before meeting, pick a public spot, sort your journey home in advance and never pay for anything, tickets included, on behalf of someone you have not met. Our safety page has a full checklist.
Which should you choose?
Choose Footymatch if mates for the match matter as much as a date to you, meeting people at the same fixture appeals, or you only want someone in your own colours.
Choose Football Dating UK if a relationship is the main goal, you want sterling prices before registering, and fans of any club, or none, are welcome in your inbox.
